Baseball Recap: Clewiston Triumphs

Clewiston got themselves on the board against LaBelle on Thursday, but LaBelle never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cowboys/Cowgirls, sneaking past 1-0. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

LaBelle's batters probably weren't too happy with Jackson Mann, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (he gave up two walks). Mann has become a key player for Clewiston: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Clewiston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Leiba, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Clewiston's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for LaBelle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Clewiston will challenge First Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for LaBelle, they will face off against Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys/Cowgirls' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
