Football Recap: Del Norte's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Del Norte entered their tilt with Mt. Carmel on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 20-7 victory over the Sundevils. That's more bragging rights for the Nighthawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Del Norte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katelyn Maley led the charge by throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.8% of her passes. What's more, Maley racked up 125.9 passer rating, the most she's had since back in August. Another player making a difference was Lauren Holmes, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one score.

Del Norte's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Mt. Carmel, they moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Norte will square off against Ramona at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 12.5 points per game this season, so the Nighthawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Carmel, they will challenge La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Sundevils 11, the Mavericks 11.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
