Basketball Recap: Curlew Takes a Loss

Curlew lost against Tonasket back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars had to suffer through a 79-32 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-12.

Sylas Stotts and Quin Doyen certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Stotts posted 13 points and five rebounds, while Doyen put up nine points.

Tonasket's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Spangler led the charge by shooting 50% from the field to rack up 17 points along with eight assists and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Tompkins, who went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points.

Curlew's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Tonasket, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Curlew wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-30 loss against Valley Christian on the 6th. As for Tonasket, they have also already played their next game, a 68-56 win against Republic on the 6th.
