Softball Game Preview: Prescott Curley Wolves vs. Gurdon Go-Devils

The Prescott Curley Wolves will challenge the Gurdon Go-Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Prescott has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Prescott is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Smackover, falling 12-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Curley Wolves were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Gurdon had just enough and edged out Parkers Chapel 9-7 on Monday.

Sadie Griffin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Mikaela Bradshaw and Mollie Cox did most of the damage at the plate: Bradshaw went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cox went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two runs. That's the most hits Cox has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Furr, who scored two runs while going 1-for-5.

Gurdon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.

Gurdon now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Prescott, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
