Volleyball Recap: Berwick Starts off Right with Win over Williamsport

Berwick gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Williamsport Millionaires as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Berwick won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 28-26, 25-16.

Berwick got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julia Rauch out in front who had ten digs and one block. Rauch has been hot, having also posted 17 or more assists the last seven times she's played. Angie Colone was another key player, getting 11 digs, ten kills, and two aces.

Berwick was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Berwick will venture away from home to square off against Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Williamsport, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Lake-Lehman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
