Softball Recap: Head-Royce Jayhawks vs. Lick-Wilmerding Tigers

Head-Royce had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers on Thursday as the Head-Royce Jayhawks made off with a 12-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Head-Royce considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Juno Yu made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Yu has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Yu was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Head-Royce got a big performance out of Jayla Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Davis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abigail Kim, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Head-Royce's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Lick-Wilmerding, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
