Volleyball Recap: Guilderland Falls Despite Big Games from Emma Codden and Hailey Elario

If Guilderland was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Columbia on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Flying Dutchmen lost 3-0 to the Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks on Thursday. The Flying Dutchmen haven't had much luck with the Blue Streaks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Saratoga Springs got the win, Guilderland sure made them earn it: two sets took extra rallies. The final score came out to 25-19, 27-25, 27-25.

Guilderland's loss came despite strong showings from Hailey Elario and Emma Codden. Elario had ten digs and three assists, while Codden had 15 kills and 11 digs. Codden is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least six every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Phelan also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Saratoga Springs found their leader in freshman Taryn Adams, who had 15 digs and three aces.

Guilderland's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7-1. As for Saratoga Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.
