Softball Game Preview: Rootstown Rovers vs. Aquinas Knights

The Rootstown Rovers will head out to square off against the Aquinas Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aquinas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rootstown, who comes in off a win.

Rootstown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over John F. Kennedy Catholic on Monday. The Rovers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to Central Christian.

AyraBella Bacorn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ta'Leyah Williams, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Rootstown's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Aquinas, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Rootstown took their win against Aquinas in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Rovers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
