Volleyball Recap: Alisa Kandic Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cheney Tech

Academy of Science and Innovation's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Cheney Tech Chargers as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

While Academy of Science and Innovation won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-20, 26-24.

Academy of Science and Innovation got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alisa Kandic out in front who had 19 assists and three aces. Those 19 assists gave Kandic a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehae'Vah Armstrong, who had eight digs and one assist.

They weren't the only good server: Academy of Science and Innovation was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They served two more aces than Cheney Tech's also-impressive total of 12.

When it comes to explaining why Cheney Tech lost, don't look at Janilla Hanson. Despite the final result, she had five digs, four blocks, and three aces.

The win got Academy of Science and Innovation back to even at 1-1. As for Cheney Tech, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Academy of Science and Innovation is taking a road trip to face off against Goodwin Tech at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Cheney Tech has already played their next match (against Comp Sci), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
