Softball Recap: Peoria Lions vs. Normal West Wildcats
Peoria extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They lost 20-1 to the Normal West Wildcats. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Normal West, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-16. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
For Normal West's part, Hope Ferrill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Ferrill was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Normal West let Ciera Beyers and Olivia Kobel run wild. Beyers got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run, while Kobel went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Beyers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery White, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
