Football Game Preview: West Washington Senators vs. Salem Lions

The West Washington Senators will challenge the Salem Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, everything came up roses for West Washington against Crawford County as the team secured a 48-6 win. The Senators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 33 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Salem entered their tilt with Charlestown on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 21-20 W against the Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Pirates since October 9, 2020.

Salem's win came from a few key players West Washington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Logan Dent, who rushed for 101 yards and two scores. He is becoming a predictor of Salem's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Caris Moore helped out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards.

Salem was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

The win got Salem back to even at 4-4. As for West Washington, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

West Washington was dealt a bruising 34-7 loss at the hands of Salem in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dent, who rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
