Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Almond-Bancroft's 14th in Last 18 Outings

Almond-Bancroft got themselves on the board against Assumption on Thursday, but Assumption never followed suit. They blew past the Royals 14-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Riya Ceballos made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lexi Carlton and Kerstyn Clark did most of the damage at the plate: Carlton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Clark went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave Carlton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Oakley Omernik, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Almond-Bancroft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Almond-Bancroft has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Assumption, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-5.

As of now, neither Almond-Bancroft nor the Royals have any future games scheduled.
