Softball Recap: Slaughter Community Charter Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sumner, Slaughter Community Charter was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Livonia Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Caroline Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Phoebe White, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Slaughter Community Charter's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Livonia, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-13.

Looking ahead, Slaughter Community Charter will face off against Dunham at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Livonia, they will challenge Liberty Magnet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
