Huffman had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-12 to make it five. They lost 14-8 to the Pleasant Grove Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 last Saturday.

Dylan Craig made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Huffman is 8-3 when Craig posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Rodarrius Townsend also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
As for Pleasant Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
On Pleasant Grove's side, Phoenix Lewis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lewis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Fikes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Kaden Powell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Huffman will be playing in front of their home fans against Fultondale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.29 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pleasant Grove, they will take on Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
