Basketball Recap: Plainfield Quakers vs. Portage Indians

After flying high against Perry Meridian last Friday, Plainfield came back down to earth. The Plainfield Quakers fell just short of the Portage Indians by a score of 43-41 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Quakers have suffered since February 1, 2024.

Noah Smith and Harper Baker-Lands certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Smith went 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Baker-Lands went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points. Those four blocks gave Smith a new career-high.

Portage was led to victory by O'Mari Evans and Dennis Moran. Evans posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Moran put up nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Kobe, who had six points.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Portage, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Plainfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-35 win against Greensburg on the 27th. As for Portage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-40 victory against Merrillville on the 28th.
