Softball Recap: St. Pius X Takes Down Ranked Eldorado

St. Pius X faced Eldorado in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Sartans blew past the Golden Eagles 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Sartans, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

St. Pius X got a great performance from Lexi Jaramillo as she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Jaramillo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Chavez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucia Gallegos, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

St. Pius X kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldorado only managed eight.

St. Pius X pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eldorado, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

St. Pius X has already played their next contest, a 10-4 victory against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 18th. As for Eldorado, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-11 win against Albuquerque on the 18th.
