Volleyball Recap: Poughkeepsie Starts Season with Victory at Home

Poughkeepsie gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Gorton Wolves with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Pioneers were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Wolves, so the Pioneers were just returning the favor.

While Poughkeepsie won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Rojas, who had ten digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Emma Ramirez, who had 16 digs and one assist.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gorton fell to 2-1.

Poughkeepsie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gorton, they will square off against Greenburgh-North Castle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
