Volleyball Recap: Rio Rico Has No Trouble Against Nogales

Rio Rico hadn't done well against Nogales recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Apaches with a sharp 3-0 win. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Apaches, too.

Rio Rico was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-20, 25-19.

America Navarro was the offensive standout of the game as she had three digs, two aces, and one block. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (14).

Navarro wasn't the only good server: Rio Rico was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

The victory got Rio Rico back to even at 1-1.

Rio Rico has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Safford on the 2nd. As for Nogales, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Marana on the 30th.
