Baseball Recap: Stevenson Takes Down Ann Sobrato in a Playoff Battle

Stevenson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs by a score of 12-8 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Alex Wang and Phinn Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wang pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Thomas struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave Wang a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Wang went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Henry Blaxter and Jacob Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Blaxter went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Hall went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Hall has posted since back in April.

Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ann Sobrato only posted an OBP of .343.

Stevenson's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Ann Sobrato, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 20-7 record.

Stevenson has already played their next matchup, an 18-8 win against South San Francisco on the 29th. Ann Sobrato does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
