Football Recap: Air Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Air Academy had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it six. They received a blow as they fell 32-14 to the Sand Creek Scorpions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Kadets of the 40-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Although Air Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Max Schlichter and Cade Ballard.

As for Sand Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.3 points this season.

Sand Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Treven Rick, who rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 129 yards and a pair of TDs. Ethan Mangrum was another key back, rushing for 100 yards and two scores.

Coincidentally, Air Academy and Sand Creek will both be playing Widefield the next time they take the field. The Kadets will host the Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Scorpions will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
