Softball Recap: Troy Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Troy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Whitney Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jae Jae Phillips was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Mensch, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Troy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Whitney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Troy will square off against rival McGregor at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Troy 2, McGregor 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Whitney is set to challenge their familiar foe West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
