Basketball Game Preview: Newberry Bulldogs vs. Clover Blue Eagles

The Newberry Bulldogs will take on the Clover Blue Eagles in a tournament on Monday. Newberry is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Newberry saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 68-42 to Riverside.

Meanwhile, Clover came up short against Irmo on Saturday and fell 48-39. The match marked the Blue Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Newberry will have to contain Jayden Parks as he made an impact in Clover's last game. He posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Parks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Nighbor, who earned seven points.

Clover's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Newberry, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Newberry barely slipped by Clover when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 63-62. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Clover's Vincent Alexander, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be easier for Newberry to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
