Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against International Community

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cornerstone Charter Academy). They came out on top against the International Community Comets by a score of 93-85 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Ducks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Leading Cornerstone Charter Academy to victory were Devan Domadia and Derick Augustin. Domadia went 10 for 17 on his way to 37 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Augustin dropped a double-double on 38 points and 12 boards. Domadia's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Soto, who posted five points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Cornerstone Charter Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as International Community only racked up eight assists.

Despite the loss, International Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paxton Boaz went 11 of 17 en route to 38 points along with seven boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boaz has scored all season. Caleb Farrell was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points.

Cornerstone Charter Academy pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for International Community, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Cornerstone Charter Academy and International Community are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cornerstone Charter Academy will square off against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy on Monday. Cornerstone Charter Academy is facing Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at the right time seeing as Ridgeview Global Studies Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for International Community, they will challenge Altamonte Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. International Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.
