Baseball Recap: Whitney Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Whitney's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Del Oro Golden Eagles by a score of 7-6. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 6-5 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Corden Pettey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Mason Harris was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jordan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Whitney's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Del Oro, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

While Whitney had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
