Football Recap: Jack Hansen and Esteban Gutierrez Pace Brentwood Christian Defense

After flying high against Manor New Tech last Friday, Brentwood Christian came back down to earth. The Bears took a hard 33-14 fall against the Grace Community Cougars on Friday. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Brentwood Christian lost, don't look at Gabe Washington. Despite the final result, he picked up 149 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Brayden Jennings, who threw for 224 yards and a pair of TDs.

Brentwood Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Hansen and Esteban Gutierrez. Another thorn in Grace Community's side was Luke Weed, who picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

With the defeat, Brentwood Christian broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. As for Grace Community, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Brentwood Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grace Prep at 1:30 p.m. on October 11. As for Grace Community, they will face off against Brook Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Guard's rather soft defense (which has allowed 32 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
