Baseball Game Preview: Crescent City Raiders vs. Halifax Academy Knights

The Crescent City Raiders will take on the Halifax Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Halifax Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crescent City, who comes in off a win.

Crescent City took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Peniel Baptist Academy. Considering the Raiders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jed Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Crescent City is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Andrew Roosa was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Marcus Pates was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Halifax Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Oasis Christian, falling 20-3.

Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Crescent City, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.

Everything went Crescent City's way against Halifax Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Crescent City made off with a 17-1 victory. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
