Preview: Raymond vs. South Bend
South Bend will challenge Raymond on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close game.
South Bend ended up a good deal behind Ilwaco when they played last Friday, losing 16-35. South Bend got a solid performance out of senior Drew Rose, who picked up 73 yards on the ground and accumulated 119 passing yards; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. In fact, with 11 tackles Rose was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Raymond have had to suffer through a 3-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were fully in charge, breezing past Chief Leschi 64-16. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-8.
Raymond's win lifted them to 1-3 while South Bend's defeat dropped them down to 1-3. In Raymond's win, junior Mccartney Maden rushed for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior Patrick Edwards rushed for 114 yards and 4 touchdowns. We'll see if South Bend have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
