The Fairland Dragons will face off against the Spring Mills Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fairland hadn't beaten South Point on the road since May 10, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Dragons came out on top against the Pointers by a score of 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Wyatt Thomas
Wyatt Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairland is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Garrett Cornwell was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Fairland's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gillespie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Mills). They were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over Berkeley Springs on Tuesday. Considering the Cardinals have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Braydon Ward looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, JP Sweeney was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Bryce Anders was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Spring Mills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Spring Mills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Fairland, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
