Softball Recap: Sparks Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Sparks won the last time they faced South Tahoe and things went their way on Friday too. The Railroaders walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Vikings. That's two games straight that the Railroaders have won by exactly three runs.

Bailey Hunden made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elise Henderson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Melissa Reza Perez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Sparks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Tahoe only managed four hits.

Sparks' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for South Tahoe, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-12.

Sparks will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair will be back at it again later today.
