Giles County extends road winning streak to four

Recap: Giles County Bobcats vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers

The Giles County Bobcats had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Mt. Pleasant. Given Giles County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakyri McClure, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hayden Holt, who scored eight points along with five steals.

Mt. Pleasant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Giles County pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Giles County will be home for the holidays to greet Forrest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hughes at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th.
