Basketball Recap: Homestead Skates Past Norland with Ease

On Wednesday, the Homestead Broncos blew past the Norland Vikings, posting a 61-22 win. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 32 points or more this season.

Leading Homestead to victory were Alissa Brown and Caitylyn Gibson. Brown dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals, while Gibson went 8 of 14 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Gibson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Kelis Durham was another key player, putting up eight points.

Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Norland, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

The timing is sure in Homestead's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Mourning has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Norland has already played their next matchup, a 53-38 loss against Cypress Bay on the 18th.
