Preview: Northwest Halifax Vikings vs. Northampton County Jaguars
Northwest Halifax is 1-9 against Northampton County since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northwest Halifax Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Northampton County Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northwest Halifax comes in on five and Northampton County on three.
Last Tuesday, Northwest Halifax took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 60-18 win over Southeast Halifax. With Northwest Halifax ahead 39-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Northwest Halifax's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camaya Adkins, who scored 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Adkins has scored at least 25% of Northwest Halifax's points. Keyara Rook was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Northampton County really took it to Rocky Mount Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-15 win at home. With that win, Northampton County brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
It was another big night for Michaela Hodge, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kashanti Parker, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists.
Northwest Halifax's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Northampton County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Northwest Halifax didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Northampton County when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win.
