Baseball Game Preview: Beamer Titans vs. Decatur Golden Gators

For the second straight game, Beamer will face off against Decatur. The Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Beamer has struggled recently with 17 defeats in a row, while Decatur will arrive with five straight victories.

Beamer had taken Decatur down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Titans lost 25-1 to the Golden Gators.

For Decatur's part, Alex Dutenhoffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dutenhoffer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Broq Powlus looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Buol, who went 5-for-6 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Holloway, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Decatur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Decatur's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Beamer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
