Softball Game Preview: Citronelle Wildcats vs. Vigor Wolves

Citronelle is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Vigor a four-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Citronelle Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Vigor Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Citronelle has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Citronelle came up short against Robertsdale and fell 13-9.

EmmaGrace Weaver led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Dickinson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vigor). They were the clear victors by a 21-10 margin over Chickasaw on Tuesday. The Wolves not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Vigor's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Citronelle, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Citronelle took their win against Vigor when the teams last played last Monday by a conclusive 21-6. Will Citronelle repeat their success, or does Vigor has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
