Volleyball Recap: SkyView Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Jefferson on Saturday, SkyView Academy came back down to earth. The Hawks fell just short of the Gilpin County Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Hawks have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

SkyView Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-17, 15-13.

Despite the loss, SkyView Academy still got an impressive performance from Taylor Bales, who had 39 digs. Bales is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played. Emma Francavilla also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

SkyView Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Gilpin County, with the victory, they broke their six-match losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

SkyView Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Dawson School on the 25th. As for Gilpin County, they will face off against Front Range Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
