Softball Game Preview: Clarkdale Bulldogs vs. Newton Tigers

Clarkdale has gone a perfect 6-0 against Newton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Clarkdale will head out on the road to take on Newton at 6:30 p.m. Clarkdale will be strutting in after a victory while Newton will be coming in after a loss.

Clarkdale proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Wayne County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since February 14th.

Clarkdale's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Meadows, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Meanwhile, Newton came up short against Lake on Thursday, falling 19-1. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Clarkdale, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Clarkdale took their win against Newton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarkdale since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
