Basketball Game Preview: Quad Cities Christian Eagles vs. Pathway Christian Panthers

The Quad Cities Christian Eagles will challenge the Pathway Christian Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Quad Cities Christian came up short against Galesburg Christian and fell 35-22.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jada Britton, who posted six points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Ayda Kyer, who had four points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Meanwhile, Pathway Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 51-33 fall against Galesburg Christian. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 18 points.

Quad Cities Christian will have to keep a close watch on Lorena Helmuth and Maggie Shetler, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pathway Christian's prior game. Helmuth almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Shetler put up three points and ten rebounds.

Pathway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Quad Cities Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Quad Cities Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pathway Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
