Volleyball Game Preview: River Islands Riptide vs. Stagg Delta Kings

The River Islands Riptide will square off against the Stagg Delta Kings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stagg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on River Islands, who comes in off a win.

Stagg will be up against a hot River Islands team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. River Islands came out on top against Modesto by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

The victory didn't come easy: Modesto scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 17-25, 28-26.

Meanwhile, Stagg didn't have quite enough to beat Franklin on Wednesday and fell 3-2.

Stagg started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-14, 15-7.

River Islands will need to focus on slowing down Evan Sun, one of several Stagg players who made an impact when they last played. He had ten digs and six kills. Those ten digs gave Sun a new career-high. Angelo Lagrimas was another key player, getting 20 assists and six digs.

Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for River Islands, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
