Volleyball Recap: Middletown Islanders vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

Middletown extended their postseason success on Thursday against Mt. Hope. They came out on top against the Mt. Hope Huskies by a score of 3-1. For the Islanders, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October.

While Middletown might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Mt. Hope scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 29-27, 23-25, 25-19.

Gianna Piker paced Middletown's offense, picking up 15 kills. Piker got some help from Olivia Kestler and her 36 assists. Piker was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

The win made it two in a row for Middletown and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for Mt. Hope, they moved to 15-6 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Middletown will challenge Barrington at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Barrington is coming into the matchup with eight straight victories on the road, so Middletown will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Mt. Hope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
