Western International won the last time they faced Renaissance and things went their way on Friday too. The Cowboys came out on top against the Phoenix by a score of 9-4.

Johnnie Salazar was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Johan Villarreal was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Oscar Marquez, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Western International's victory bumped their record up to 14-5-1. As for Renaissance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Coming up, Western International will square off against Mattawan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Renaissance, they will head out to challenge Roseville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
