Softball Recap: South Side Hornet vs. Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks        
        
		
            
 After flying high against Cedar Ridge  last Friday, South Side came back down to earth. The South Side Hornet fell just short of the Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks by a score of  4-3 on Tuesday. South Side was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mt. Vernon-Enola apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in March.
  Ali Goodwin spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four  runs (all of which were unearned)  on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Laciegh Duncan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 South Side's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 14-6-1. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, the  win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
 South Side will be playing in front of their home fans against Heber Springs at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Heber Springs is coming into the  contest with seven straight  victories on the road,  so South Side will have to stop a  squad with plenty of momentum. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The pair have allowed few  runs on average, (Concord: 2.3, Mt. Vernon-Enola: 2.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
