Baseball Recap: Bloom's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bloom waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Thornton Wildcats as they made off with a 17-3 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blazing Trojan also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Dan Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bloom is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-9 otherwise. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Bloom got a great performance from Trevion Franklin as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Franklin has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Mateo Munoz was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Bloom's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Christian Mendoza was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Bloom was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Bloom's record now sits at 13-11. As for Thornton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-1 record this season.

Bloom will challenge Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornton will be paying especially close attention to the Blazing Trojan's game: after the Blazing Trojan face off against the Thunderbolts, they'll take on Thornton again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
