Baseball Game Preview: Weston Wolves vs. Calvin Cougars

Weston has gone a perfect 4-0 against Calvin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Weston will venture away from home to challenge Calvin at 4:30 p.m. Calvin took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Weston, who comes in off a win.

Weston is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since February 22nd on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over Quitman. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Zehr, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Browning, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Calvin fell victim to Winnfield and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 9-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Weston's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Calvin, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Weston took their win against Calvin when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
