Baseball Game Preview: Bellingham Blackhawks vs. Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers

The Bellingham Blackhawks will head out to take on the Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bellingham is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Medfield hit Bellingham with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blackhawks fell 9-5 to the Warriors.

Payton Young was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bellingham saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Sullivan, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Blackstone Valley RVT didn't have quite enough to beat Uxbridge on Wednesday and fell 3-2.

Alex Vosburgh was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Blackstone Valley RVT is 3-1 when Vosburgh posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Pilkington, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Blackstone Valley RVT has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bellingham, their record is now 2-15.

Bellingham couldn't quite get it done against Blackstone Valley RVT in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
