Baseball Recap: Bedford Has No Trouble Against Timberlane

Bedford won the last time they faced Timberlane and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 12-1 win. That looming 12-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

James Gilbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Crowley was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hinton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Bedford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Bedford and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Timberlane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bedford will challenge rival Goffstown at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.4, the Grizzlies 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Timberlane is set to face off against their familiar foe Alvirne at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
