Football Recap: Northwestern Wildcats vs. Mercyhurst Prep Lakers
Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 28-7 to the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers. The Wildcats lost against the Lakers in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 72-0 score last time.
Braden Swift threw for 26 yards on six of ten attempts. On the ground,
David White rushed for 72 yards.
Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mercyhurst Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern has the luxury of staying home for another week and will welcome Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they will welcome Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seneca knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 point or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Mercyhurst Prep likes a good challenge.
