Baseball Game Preview: Luling Eagles vs. Poth Pirates

The Luling Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Poth Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Luling had taken Nixon-Smiley down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 10-6 to the Mustangs.

Luling saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Sandersen, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Poth came out on top against Stockdale on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Pirates blew past the Brahmas 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Collin Korb was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Stevens, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Poth has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Luling, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Luling suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Poth in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
