Baseball Recap: Brunswick Drops Season-High Score on Mt. Blue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brunswick). They came out on top against the Mt. Blue Cougars by a score of 8-4 on Thursday. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 14-4 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lism Scholl made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Henry Blood was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Brunswick and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Mt. Blue, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Brunswick will welcome Camden Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Blue, they will head out to square off against Messalonskee at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
