Baseball Recap: Delavan-Darien Finds Home Field Redemption Against Jefferson

There's no place like home for Delavan-Darien, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Jefferson Eagles on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Eagles on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-0 defeat.

Jacob Huff was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Huff wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haaken Hovestol, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Delavan-Darien's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
