Softball Recap: Sequatchie County Starts Season with Win Against Franklin County

Sequatchie County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Franklin County Rebels 14-6 on Friday.

Lyla Houk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Sequatchie County got a massive performance out of Grace Kelly, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Kelly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Fine, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sequatchie County will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Grundy County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin County, they will take on Giles County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
